When Your Child is the Bully

It can be tough when your child is the one who won't share, or takes toys away from other kids. Sometimes they may not be very nice about it either. You want to do your best to instill a sense of sharing with your children. When they are small they don't really understand the concept, but you can let them know that it's nice to share and have them give one of their toys to to the other child. Let older children know that being a good friend is to share, be kind to and not hurt them. Sometimes kids just need to work it out on their own, in this case, just be near in case a fit occurs or one child is hurting another.

Ward Off Dry Skin

Dry skin means itchy skin and it's pretty common for most people, especially in the colder months. There are a few things to do in order to keep your skin from become dry and itchy. The natural oil that occurs in our skin can be stripped away from hot water, the sun, dry air and the wind. Use very mild soaps when washing and use luke warm water. Use a basic lotion with no fragrance after showering to trap moisture as well as adding to it. If your itch dry skin is more severe talk to your doctor about possible treatments that go beyond just soap and lotion.

Can Salt be an Anti-Depressant?

This is a really interesting article. Researchers have found in their study with rats that when they were without salt, their behavior changed. They would not eat or not do the activities that they would normally. Of course too much salt is not healthy, but this research could explain why we consume so much salt, it's like a "reward" because of it enhancing your mood. Taking Your Children to the Library

I'm sure you've gotten tired of reading the same books over and over. You can create and outing and save some money by taking your kids to the library. It's a good way to teach them to take care of things. It's also nice to be able to have several books at a time for several weeks. You can have your children pick out the ones they want and read them together. You'll also save money by not buying new books.

Parenting the "Easy" Way

These days many parents default to video games, or computers to entertain their children while traveling or eating out.  Many parents find it easier, their children will be quiet and not disruptive. The problem is they don't get much interaction. There's no creativity when playing a video game. They are not involved with what's currently going on. It's important to engage them with what is presently happening and include them in the present activity. It may be easier to just send them off to their game or computer, but finding fun, interesting alternatives are not that tough.
