"Princess Parenting" is it Harmful?
It's not uncommon for little girls even at a very young age to be very into everything princess. Not to mention that marketing is full of products with a princess theme. Some believe this is harmless, other believe that it could lead to a a child who thinks they are entitled to everything. It really comes down to how you parent these little girls. It's ok for them to engage in fantasy play and have princess toys, but they need to be taught how to be respectful of others. No matter how into the princess products they are it's nothing up against responsible parenting.

Activities for Kids When School is Out
Summer is quickly approaching which means your kids will need some activities to keep them busy. Talk to other parents to get an idea of what their own kids will be doing. You may be able to work out a child care trade as well. Check out your local parks and recreation centers for planned activities or day camps that might be offered. If you're a stay at home parent plan some field trips, the zoo, parks you have never been to, or go to the ocean. You may even find that some museums may be fun to take your children to. You may want to check your local library as well. They often host free events for children. You want to keep your children emotionally and physically stimulated until the next school year begins.
Teaching Children to Live Healthy
One of leading causes of death in the U.S. is obesity. More than ever we are seeing our children develop bad eating habits and play more video games and do less physical activity. We need to educate them on the benefits of living healthy and it starts at home. Pay more attention to the foods you buy and go for more fresh fruits and vegetables and less processed foods. Have them make their own lunches to bring to school, they will have what they want to eat and parents will feel better knowing they have healthy food to eat. Children learn a lot by example, so parents should be living a healthy life as well, getting enough exercise and choosing nutritious foods.
Losing Weight Inspires Healthy Living
I recently read an article about a mother who wanted to lose weight in order to do more with her 8-year-old son. Rawls College of Business where she works created a challenge for faculty and staff to lose a combined 5,000 pounds in which she participated in. Having the support of other people really helped out in the challenge. They did not reach their goal, but the mother was inspired to keep living healthy to reach her goal. She has friends and coworkers help her get through when she becomes discouraged and help push her to meet her goal.
