Eating More Vegetables Decreases Wrinkles

As if we really need more reasons to eat vegetables, a new study from japan studied over 700 Japanese women. They measured surface lipids, hydration, elasticity and vegetable intake. Even with controlling other variables like smoking, sun exposure and age they found some interesting things. The higher dietary fat intake of saturated and mono saturated was associated with improved skin elasticity. There was a decrease in skin wrinkles around the eyes with women who had higher intakes of green and yellow vegetables. Adjusting the intake of green and yellow vegetables, higher levels of saturated fat were associated with worse skin wrinkling. However, even with these results further studies with more accurate measurements methods are needed to see the role of daily diet in the aging of the skin.
