Developing Capable Young People, like STEP (systematic training for effective parenting) series is based on Adlerian psychology. A respectful and effecting parenting method that is based on kind and firm discipline, focusing on solutions rather than punishment.
This ten-session, multimedia training process is supported by a Leader's Guide, Participant Workbook, textbooks, and audio/video resources. It is based on a unique inductive learning model which emphasizes collaboration, unique relationships, and situations so personal mastery can be achieved. The program has proven to be unusually effective in accommodating ethnic and socio-culture diversity.

Raising Self-Reliant Children in a Self-Indulgent World
by H. Stephen Glenn & Jane Nelsen
A Gold Medal Award winner presented by Susan Kovalik and Associates--a breakthrough resource for parents and educators! This book discusses in detail the "Significant Seven Perceptions and Skills" necessary to help people reach their full potential. Fostering healthy attitudes and behaviors in children is what this book is all about. Those who think in terms of leniency versus strictness will be disappointed. This book goes beyond these issues to teach children to be responsible and self-reliant. No parent or educator can afford to ignore this groundbreaking work.
Positive Discipline - Revised 25th Anniversary Edition
by Jane Nelsen
All parents try to do their best but the best of intentions don't always produce the best results. Dr. Jane Nelsen, an experienced psychologist, educator, and mother, believes that children misbehave when they feel thwarted in their need to belong and in their need for love and attention.
